Hui Aloha Kiholo is a non-profit organization that was created to sustainably manage the environmental and cultural resources of a bay named Kiholo on the island of Hawai‘i. I used geographical and cultural elements to create the brand identity for the organization. Hui Aloha Kiholo’s logo is a combination of the literal meaning of the word “Kiholo,” meaning ‘wooden fish hook,’ and the shape of the bay which was created by lava flows on each of its sides forming its very distinguishable shape.
Hui Aloha Kiholo’s colors are very prevalent in Kiholo bay and represent a responsibility to both the land and ocean. The contrast in elements is also reflected in how the two colors are on opposite sides of the color wheel which creates a contrast in color warmth.
As soon as the branding was completed and approved, I needed to give the non-profit some web presence. I created its first website that has since been changed.
